4-H CONSUMER AND FINANCIAL EDUCATION
(Division 6040)

• Requires Home Economics Record book.
• One exhibit per 4-H'er.
• Designate age of 4Her on Identification Card.
• Poster should be no wider than 22 inches and no longer than 28 inches. The use of pencil on the front of the poster is discouraged.
• On the back of the poster, attach a one-page, one side only, narrative explaining how the decision making process was used to reach your final choice. Some factors to consider are: price, safety, end use, size, appearance, etc. You are encouraged to list your research sources (individual and/or written) at the end of your narrative. The 8 1/2" X 11" narrative can be single or double spaced and must be typed or in ink.
• Posters will be disqualified from class champion if:
1. They do not contain narrative
2. Are not typed or in ink
3. Do not conform to listed topics
• Information can be found in the 4H Cooperative Curriculum Service (4HCCS) Consumer Savvy project manuals.

Level 1 (ages 9-10): The Consumer in Me
914 Bargain Shopping. Complete a cost comparison chart for one product you and your family use as presented on pp. 20-21 of (4HCCS) Consumer Savvy project manual. Include a narrative of "Check This Out".
915 What is the Best Buy? Complete a cost comparison chart for two products in three different sizes as presented on pp. 22-23. Include a narrative of "Check This Out"
Level 2 (ages 11-13): Consumer Wise
916 Media and the Marketplace. Complete a commercial comparison through information presented on pp. 18-19. Include a narrative of "Check This Out".
917 Decision! Decisions! Decide! Complete a decision making poster on any item you wish to purchase as presented on pp. 12-13. Include a narrative of "Check This Out!"
Level 3 (ages 14-19): Consumer Roadmap
918 How to Write a Wrong. Describe or outline the steps in resolving a consumer problem as presented on pp. 22-23. Include a narrative of "Check This Out!"
919 I Own a Car or Does It Own Me? Calculate and illustrate the costs of owning a car as presented on pp. 28-29. Include a narrative of "Check This Out".
920 What Does Real Life Cost? Identify and illustrate the true costs of living on your own as presented on pp. 32-33. Include a narrative of "Check This Out!"
