FRESH SALSA RECIPE CONTEST

FRESH SALSA Recipe Competition Event Schedule
6:00 PM Registration
7:00 PM Salsa Judging/Salsa Dancing Demonstration
8:00 PM Winner Announced and Prizes Awarded
8:30 PM Let’s All Salsa Dance

Rules of Participation
1. Must be a resident of Kenton County.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age day of competition.
3. All contestants must be considered “amateurs”.
4. Entrants may submit only one recipe in each category (total of 4)
5. Each entry must be submitted with a completed registration form (provided during registration night of event) and copy of Salsa recipe.
6. Salsa entry must have been made fresh for competition within past 24 hrs.
7. All submitted recipes must be original and homemade by the person entering.
8. Recipes shall not be taken directly from any copyrighted publication (i.e. cookbook, internet publications, etc.)
9. Entrants are encouraged to use fresh, locally produced ingredients.
10. Each entry must be: (1) pint size quantity, (2)submitted in a plastic or glass container securely covered (container will not be returned) (3) clearly labeled with category name. (4) kept cold/iced-to preserve freshness. Once submitted, entries will be stored properly.
11. Submission of registration sheet and recipe will constitute the entrant’s agreement with all the rules of this event and shall give the Kenton County Fair and Horse Show permission to publish the winners and their winning recipes.
12. Entrant must be present at the judging event.
Judging
1. All judges’ decisions are final
2. Judging categories, each carrying equal weight: (1) appearance, (2) flavor/taste, (3) aroma, (4) texture/consistency, and (5) originality.
3. Entries will be scored 1-5 on each category, the highest score being 25.
4. Ties will be resolved by judges.

Tomato
ST1 Tomato-mild/medium
ST2 Tomato-hot
Other-no tomatoes in recipe
SO1 Fruit
SO2 Vegetable

Prizes:
Three winners will be selected in each category
1st Place: Blue ribbon and $15.00
2nd Place: Red Ribbon and $10.00
3rd Place: White Ribbon and $5.00
Judges may select honorable mentions, but no cash award will be given.
